DUBSTEP HIP/GLITCH HOP IDM
Jay Curtis is a regular fixture on the east coast festival circuit. playing heavy breaks, tek & glitch to dancefloors all over Australia. In 2009 he played 2 shows in Tokyo, and a festival in Kofu, Yamanashi supporting Goth-Trad, Spoonbill and Xavier Morel. In 2011, he performed an improvised glitch/dubstep Audio/Visual set with QLD Visual Artist Shiptu Shaboo at Rainbow Serpent Festival in the Video Arts Lounge. The pair are working on further material for upcoming gigs. In the studio, Lysdexic began its existence as garbled experiments in free form sound design, audio manipulation and textural sound sculpting before moving into rhythmic based composition. Having won a few remix competitions, his breaks remix of Omnimotion hit beatport in November 09, and was followed by his tech-dubstep remix of Dinky Toy by BASIC on Dutch label Humanworkshop the following February. He has since released original compositions on Humanworkshop, Australian label Sixbux Productions and his own label Hopskotch Records whose debut release features an all Australian lineup of 17 dubstep, glitchhop, IDM and hiphop artists.

ELECTROHOUSE IDM DARK PSY DUBSTEP GLITCH NOISE
Christy started DJing under the moniker of tixEoN in the late 90’s when her DJ friends over-utilized the unlimited free drinks remuneration to the point where they couldn’t stand unassisted, and needed someone to successfully navigate CD’s from the case into the decks and press play at the appropriate time. She learnt the basic skills quickly and was soon given her own time slots under the moniker of tixEoN. In 1999 she became a regular DJ in the Adelaide alternative club scene, playing sets of 90’s industrial and what was then known as noise (now more commonly referred to as glitch). The Cybernoize years 2000-2007In the early 2000’s Christy joined forces with the newly formed Cybernoize crew in Adelaide and worked with them to put on regular industrial and noise (glitch) nights. The pinnacle of the Cybernoize crews’ resume whilst in Adelaide was a gig in early 2001 with the headliner Black Lung (her musical idol at the time), at which tixEoN was the support DJ. In 2002, Christy and two the other Cybernoize crew members moved to Melbourne, moving Cybernoize with them. Christy played a pivotal role in the organisation and promotion of regular Cybernoize nights run in Melbourne from 2002 to 2007, as well as DJing at most of them (under a new DJ name, Binary Distortion). It is estimated that Cybernoize ran over 30 events in Melbourne during this period. Some of the highlights were: Iszoloscope (Canada) and Black Lung – 3 September 2004 Lenny D, Mark N, Paul Blackout and Cambion – 17 March 2007, Dysphemic, Killjoy and Sado – 5 May 2007 .DJ Producer, Paul Balckout, Mark N, Dysphemic – 23 November 2007 Perhaps the biggest highlight of the Cybernoize years was the Distorted Festival 2005. This was a major venture that flew in 5 international acts, and brought in over 15 local acts over all 3 levels of Brown Alley for 12 hours of live music. The festival was widely recognised as a great success by all involved (if your measurement of success is happy punters and producers/venue/sound techs all being paid what they were promised. If you measure success by profits (which we don’t) then it missed the mark by quite a bit). Christy played a pivotal role in organising this event and site/artist management on the day. After the major financial and emotional outlay of the Distorted Festival, Cybernoize took a bit of a break from regular events, putting on just three more large scale gigs before disbanding at the end of 2007. Branching out Somewhere in amongst the Cybernoize years, Christy’s DJ name changed to Binary Distortion and she started to play at other events that enabled her wider scope to play music that she was more passionate about, namely glitch and IDM. Between 2003 and 2005 Binary Distortion became a regular at Uncomfort and Teratology; the glitch nights at Pony Bar. Her musical interests were more widespread than just Glitch and IDM, which saw Binary Distortion also becoming a resident DJ at the hardcore night CRACK in the late 2000’s (playing hardcore techno and breakcore). She was also a resident at a local dark psytrance night Psyclotron in 2007 (playing dark psytrance), and DJ’d at numerous breakcore gigs (mostly run by Black Lotus).
After over a decade of prolific DJ’ing across a wide range of genres, Binary Distortion took a break from regular DJing. In the late 2000’s she got firmly back into the doofing scene as a punter and developed a deep appreciation for the enhanced quality of music in an outdoor environment, so much so that the mere thought of attending indoor gigs was no longer an option. Her interest in the harder styles of electronic music (hardcore, breakcore, industrial etc) also disappeared, resulting in her giving away all of her CD’s and most of her vinyl. She abandoned DJing at club gigs almost entirely, instead opting for occasional sets playing Glitch, electrohouse and Dubstep at outdoor and warehouse parties (for crews such as Crack, Destroy Ordinary and Noizekids, as well as private doofs).
A few years ago her DJ’ing frequency slowed even further, due to the lack of opportunities to play at outdoor gigs stemming from her eclectic music tastes. However, glitch seems to be making a come-back, albeit in a more mature and interesting form. Binary Distortion has seen this as a great opportunity to get back into doing something she loves (DJing) in a genre that she has always been obsessed with (Glitch) in an environment that facilitates full appreciation for the music surrounded by amazing people (Doofs). In the last year she has returned to craft eclectic and interesting audial journeys for her fellow doof community, most recently playing Rainbow Serpent Festival and Cybertronic 2050.

INDUSTRIAL DARK TECHNO BREAKCORE NOISE AMBIENT ELECTRONIC
Behind the veil, amidst clouds and voodoo trinkets, is Fate Æffect (aka Cristian). Inspired by the occult insight, mental illness, visions of dystopia, and his wife Alison as his muse, this industrial and dark electronica project has been producing multi-faceted esoteric sounds since 2003. His work is a vessel for musical experimentation and inspiration unrestricted by genre, flirting with a range of electronic styles from industrial, dark techno, weird bedroom beats and electronica, breakcore to noise/ambient. Often tongue in cheek and an a reason for venting, & alleviating boredom, Fate Æffect’s live setup and production techniques change constantly and aims to create feelings in gyrations of sensory awareness.
Fate Æffect has had releases on Tempest Recordings, Dark Stereo, his own label Slice Records and remixes on Ende and Legs Akimbo.
He is also involved in an Industrial side project called ‘Clouds Above Chaos’ with fellow producer Gareth Fox and produces and VJ’s under Ear Mind Eye creating psychedelic electronic music and visuals. RAGGA JUNGLE, DUBWISE, BREAKCORE, DUB, DANCEHALL, WORLD MASHUP
3re aka Wanklerotaryengine began experimenting from birth and eventually was spinning vinyl as the Y2K bug was taking a firm grip on the fears of the collective corporate evil we have come to know as “suits”. He creates a vibe that entertains and challenges both male and females alike in a unique style, coming from within. Using elements of familiarity and child like fun yet evolved and textured, then at the same time can be scraped in favour of a new and completely more ridiculous idea.
Not being content to be typecast just as a dj, recently he has taken to showcasing a more personalised platform through production in which to unleash his knowledge & creativity to mash up tha dance. From silence to noise, beats to bass, cultured to groundbreaking, emotional to cold steal, always pushing and creating the future sound, never following the popular hype, never predictable, never caring if you read this shit, never saying never… forever forward no rewind! Taking his inspiration from the streets of Sao Paulo and Soweto as much as the dancehalls of Jamaica and jungle raves, 3RE brings a truly outernational sound to his production and DJing.
